The history of Globetrotters is a unique one. The name Globetrotters is derived from a rather eccentric and infamous set of ex-servicemen, who served in the forces after the Second World War. Their group had many adventures home and abroad, most famously being captured by cannibals in Papua New Guinea, they managed to escape by using a combination of charm and cunning, which involved one of the group eventually marrying two tribal women.

The whole property - the Llanover Arms, Globetrotters and surrounding buildings, have been in the family since 1899.Originally both properties date back to the eighteenth century, making the Llanover Arms one of the oldest buildings in Pontypridd. Where the Globetrotters Bar is now situated used to be the hayloft and barn.
